In this essay we describe the characteristics of the internet language used by senior-level school pupils. Our primary question formulation is: ?Which are the significant features of the youth?s internet language on a morphological, lexical, syntactical and orthographical level?? In order to answer this question we have analyzed 45 text ex-amples which is brought from two different Internet forums, Bilddagboken.se and Un-gdomar.se, forums which are widely used by youths. The analysis has been made on a morphological, lexical, orthographical and syntactical level. We have also another question formulation which is: ?How is emoticons used in youth?s internet conversa-tions?? Thereby we also study the use of emoticons in the examples we have analyzed.Our conclusion in this essay is that the youth?s internet language is a language that in many cases should be seen as an own language; it should be seen as an entirely new and unique way of communication.

Internet is used today as a traditional medium for information exchange and social interaction. One of these is virtual meeting places where people meet and exchange information, socialize and exchange knowledge with each other. The group has chosen to examine the factors affecting the use of web forums, one of the virtual meeting places that exist on the Internet today. And look at how people use the web forum today in the current situation and how to design a web forum.A survey was conducted to find out how people look at web forums today, 80 people participated, and they got to talk about what they think about different web forums regarding how and why the use these them. Guidelines on how a web forum should be designed were also developed.

The main purpose of this study has been to explore and determine how the journalistic work was used by internet users to start and keep a discussion on the internet going.We started in the aftermath of a local arson in a town of Sweden, where a discussion on the internet forum Flashback and the local newspapers commentary fields was raised.We have used these discussions to study what part the journalistic work play in these events. To do that we used a critical discourse analysis and a rhetoric analysis to investigate how these discussions use news articles to make their point. We divided the comments into four different categories, which are comments about understandings of the event, comments that talked about the matters of fact, criticism pointed at the newspaper and comments that identify the offenders.The result of the analysis shows that both forums use journalistic work as facts in their discussions. Both also use earlier articles that were written before the arson, to make their point in the discussion..

This essay examines the Swedish debate on Internet hate with focus on theories concerning Internet as a public sphere, sociocultural turbulence and subaltern counterpublics. Examining material fromnewspapers, alternative news media and discussion forums, with an hermeneutical influenced method, the task is to understand the Internet hate debate, and the study wishes to discover its relations to biggercontexts, such as social transformations and power dynamics. The conflict evolves between the establishment (journalists, writers, politicians et cetera) on one part, and Internet ?haters? on the other.The examined theme also shows a conflict where the two combatants show not only two opposite views on what Internet hate is, but also shows two different conceptions of the world..

The purpose of this study was to highlight how women who have been victims of rape are described in discussion forums on the Internet and how the view obtained is affected by victim and gender constructions. By observing several discussion threads on Swedish Internet forums, we have been able to explore how discussions and attitudes are made about women who are victims of rape and which characteristics are assigned females. This study analyzes these attitudes from a gender construction theory and a victim construction theory. Through this analysis, we wanted to gain a deeper understanding of attitudes about female rape victims and if the attitudes are rooted in victim and gender constructions. This study shows that women are often assigned responsibility to a rape if she put herself at risk and if she is assigned negative attributes such as promiscuous, as a liar or if she drinks too much alcohol.

In this study I will analyze how men who buy sex interact with one another on two different Internet communities: ?Sekreterarakademin? and ?Flashback?. (?Not a racist, but??, IRM) have established themselves as political actors and platforms for political discussion in Sweden. However, we know very little about them and their impact on democracy.

The aim of this thesis is to fill a knowledge gap regarding how online players use libraries, their attitude towards libraries and what they want out of future libraries. We see it as a problem that the library world of today does not have much knowledge about an audience that is so prevalent in society.The theory used in the thesis is Henrik Jochumsen, Casper Rasmussen Hvenegaard & Dorte Skot-Hansens model that divides libraries into four functions. The four functions are meetings, knowledge, inspiration and experiences. In the analysis we added a suggested fifth function, a digital space, giving the digital interaction and information needs of today´s society. The method was focus groups on online forums for gamers.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to examine how health information is integrated into knowledge in an everyday health related context on the web. The more specific aim is, from a LIS point of view, to map knowledge related discourses with the focus on pregnancy, in discussion forums on Swedish health related web sites. The following main questions in this paper are: (1) a) What discourses on pregnancy knowledge can be found and b) how are they expressed? (2) What are the functions of the recognised discourses? and (3) what are the relations between the identified discourses? The theoretical and methodological starting-point is discourse theory with the main focus on discursive psychology according to Wetherell?s and Potter?s theoretical and empirical work.

The results of these studies show that people in general are very aware of privacy concerns on the internet, but that their attitudes toward how important personal privacy on the internet is, differ somewhat..
